4 Signs That Show You Have Dry Skin
Rough, itchy skin is absolutely not a sight to behold.
Although the Philippines does not experience winter, Filipinos are still likely to experience dry skin. This condition can be caused not just by extreme temperatures but even erratic weather changes, harsh chemicals from skin products, skipping lotion, hot showers, medications, and a slew of skin conditions such as eczema. To know if you have dry skin, be on the lookout for these signs:

1. Roughness
Rough skin usually looks like scales. It’s cracked, flaky at times, and usually itchy. You may apply petroleum jelly on the rough patches of skin to reduce itch and dryness, as well as to create a protective barrier on your skin so that it does not get any worse.

2. Redness
Redness indicates irritation. Avoid touching affected areas to prevent dirt or bacteria from entering the skin, which may lead to an infection.

3. Tightness after showering
If your skin feels tight after you take a bath, it means it has been stripped off its moisture. This is where lotion comes to the rescue. Rub on a soothing lotion on your skin to replenish oils that have been washed off for skin that’s smooth to touch.

4. Itching
Dry, itchy skin is usually a symptom of skin problems such as allergies, psoriasis, and eczema. It’s best to visit a dermatologist to treat these conditions. Resist the urge to scratch affected areas (it will only get itchier!) so as not to worsen the condition.
